Weighting Catalogs.

I want to weight the catalogs here:

so that the Kits catalog appears before the Bottles & Caps catalog.  Throughout the site i'd like the catalog weight to take precendence over alpha sorting - that is....sort on weight first and then sort alpha after that, weighted items or catalogs should rise to the top.

can you advise how i do this - i've added weighting but, it doesn't change sorting and the wiki is vague on this

kd

** note i posted this accidentally to another topic thread - please erase that item **

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your post.

The alphabetical parameter used for the cataloglist and product list takes precedence over the product/catalog weighting. In order to have these items displayed in the order that you prefer, you will need to specify a weighting for each item.

Kind Regards,

Daniel

Hey there,
I am also having a problem with the weighting of catalogs. I have previous created my own spry menu , which contains a static top level, and then sub-catalogs under those.

I recently added another catalog to the spry menu, same structured code in the spry menu, I have weighted all 6 items in the same fashion as my other menus, but it's till listing the items in alphabetical order.

I understand that alphabetical order has precidence, but this has never been an issue until now.

The site i am working on is http://ourtownfencing.businesscatalyst.com/
Notice the blue product navigation.
The new item I have added is "Accessories".
All other items in the other product lines are working fine.

Each of the spry menu items uses the { module_cataloguelistdump,49270,1,,Weight} tag, in the sitewide template, the only thing differing is the catalog number.

In the admin the items are weighted:
In order of preference:
 6 - locks
 5 - Posts
 4- Brackets
 3 - Letterboxes
 2 - Fastenings
 1 - Tools

But as you can see, the list is still displaying in alphabetical order.

Could you offer any insight to this.
Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your post.

I have taken a look at the catalog list dump under the 'accessories' menu on the right hand side of the site. What I have noticed is that the catalog which is being displayed here has an ID of 45042, e.g { module_cataloguelistdump,45042,1,,Weight}. This Id actually matches the 'Hardware' catalog which does not have any weighting for the sub-catalogs, so it seems the confusion here is that you have 2 catalogs with similar sub-catalogs as below:

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Daniel

Hello,

I am having similar issue and I can not solve it.  I am trying to customize the order of the category names seen here: http://saltswimwear.create-your-online-business.com/_catalog_79490/Editor%27s_Pick

It's currently sorting alphabetically by default. So I assigned "weighting" to these items but this feature is not working.

I want the order to be:

Beachwear
Bikinis
Editor's Pick
Tops
Bottoms
One-piece
Resort '09
SALE!

Is this because these are Catalogs and not Sub Catalogs??

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

Taking a look at your site, it seems that your query is slightly different to what is mentioned above. I can see that in your template you are using the { module_cataloguelistdump,-1} to display a list of these catalogs. This module needs to have the 'weight' parameter set to order this list as explained below:

http://www.onlinebusinesswiki.com/index.php/Module#.7Bmodule_cataloguelistdump.2C-1.2CrowLength.2CtargetFrame.2CsortBy.7D

I have made the change on the site for and you can see this working via the link you have provided.

Kind Regards,

Daniel

Hi there -

I'm having the same problem too at http://www.celestialcheesecakes.com/Catalog_Home

I want these catalogues displayed in the order of Flavored, Deluxe and Club.  I have weighted Flavored a "3", Deluxe a "2" and Club a "1", but they still list in Alpha order.

I changed the tag in the Shop layout to specify "Weight" as well, but the catalogs still sort in Alpha order.

Can you help?  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

Hello,

Looking at this page it seems you are displaying all the catalogs individually and not as a list of any sort.  Is this the correct page?
